Innovative Neuromodulation
Emerging neuro-technologies for better brain and body

Workshop Outline
The field of neuroscience has grown dramatically in the last 30 years slowly changing the ways in which we think about our brains and bodies and the way we live and work.
Technologies measuring physiological activity are becoming more sophisticated and more accessible to a wide variety of practitioners.
This workshop is designed to expand on your knowledge and offer you additional tools and techniques that can benefit your practice, get faster results with your clients and assist with your self-care.
All neuromodulation devices presented in this workshop are used in our clinical practice with demonstrated benefits to client.
The aim of this workshop is to provide a hands on experience and a taste of neuromodulation devices and techniques such as: Neurofeedback, HRV Biofeedback and Auditory Training. We will also showcase a new devices that are currently on trial in our clinic: Photobiomodulation (PBM) and Pulsed Electro-Magnetic Field) technology.

HRV Biofeedback
HRV Biofeedback is a form of biofeedback therapy training that involves feeding back beat by beat heart rate data during slow breathing so that the breathing matches heart rate patterns. A biofeedback device shows the client when they have maximized this interaction on a computer monitor. This affects the activation and calming of our nervous system. HRV is an important indicator of both physiological resiliency and behavioural flexibility, reflecting an individual’s capacity to adapt effectively to stress and environmental demands. HRV devices’ beat-to-beat fluctuations in the rhythm of the heart provide us with an indirect measure of heart health, as defined by the degree of balance in sympathetic and vagus nerve activity.
Neurofeedback
Neurofeedback is biofeedback for the brain, which teaches self-control of brain functions to by measuring brain waves and providing a feedback signal on a computer screen for the client to see. Clinical applications of neurofeedback are many i.e. treatment of ADHD, anxiety, depression, epilepsy, addictions, learning disabilities, ASD as well as other applications such as pain management, and the improvement of athletic performance.
Auditory Training
Auditory Training: uses the auditory system as a portal to the vagus complex, which controls our physiological state. Once physiological state is regulated, we can accelerate or enhance subsequent therapy. Based on Dr. Porges’ Polyvagal Theory, the program is derived from nearly four decades of research on the relationship between the autonomic nervous
system and social-emotional processes. It is designed to stimulate nervous system regulation by exercising and systematically challenging the auditory system with specifically processed music. The music trains the auditory pathways by focusing on the frequency envelope of human speech that helps clients focus on human voice and tune out irrelevant frequencies and enables self-soothing and autonomic regulation.
Brain Photobiomodulation
Brain Photobiomodulation (PBM) technology is used to modulate and alter brainwaves using near infrared electromagnetic (light) energy, measured through EEG. This technology uses 10Hz pulse to elevate neural Alpha waves. As Alpha is the resting state for the brain, an increase in Alpha waves can help with developing overall stress reduction and sense of calmness. These devices are currently being tested in our clinic for their efficacy and are showing the initial positive results.
PEMF (Pulsed Electro-Magnetic Field) technology
PEMF (Pulsed Electro-Magnetic Field) technology: utilising the natural spectrum of frequencies, prompts the brain to adapt to the rhythm being transmitted, which in turn leads to alleviating symptoms of emotional and physiological distress. PEMF works as a digital metronome using electromagnetic pulses that matches the exact natural frequencies required for the desired state. This is a wearable device, based on neuroscience, using the knowledge of neuromodulation, neuroplasticity and active brainwave entrainment techniques. These devices are currently being tested in our clinic for their efficacy and are showing the initial positive results.
